This time of year is often filled with joyous emotion as many view their families, friends, and others closest to them as their main source of happiness. This year Columbus Day will be celebrated this Monday, October 9th. The holiday commemorates Christopher Columbus’s arrival to the new world in October of 1492. Columbus Day was first celebrated in 1792 on the 300th anniversary of Columbus’s landing, and became a National Holiday in 1937.
